"La Madelon" brooch

This brooch is part of an order from Maison LACLOCHE to the "Péry et Fils" workshop dated December 9, 1939, representing "La Madelon".
Fifteen copies were delivered to LACLOCHE in the early 1940s. Given the war that had just started, no other "Madelon" left the "Péry et Fils" workshops.

We are therefore faced with a very rare piece. The success of the song "La Madelon comes to serve us to drink ..." brought up to date by Marlène DIETRICH during the celebration of July 14, 1939 on the Champs Elysées was to provoke a strong demand that the LACLOCHE brothers had foreseen, but which was stopped for acts of war.

How many "Madelon" out of the fifteen produced were they melted ? Its story, in any case, deserved to be told and deserves to be clarified. Indeed, the helmet of our Madelon looks more like an English helmet than the helmet of our "poilus". A rifle slung over the shoulder for the waitress of a tavern, that seems out of place, even if the latter is frequented by an entire regiment. With a barrel on her stomach, our Madelon would look more like a canteen.

This sweet mixture does not detract from the liking of the character.

Rare and astonishing clip signed "LACLOCHE PARIS CANNES DEPOSE" depicting "La Madelon", the heroine song composed in 1913 and spreaded by soldiers during 1914-1918 war. Marlène Dietrich sang it during 14 th july celebration in 1939  Champs Elysées to Paris. Presence of four "tête d'aigle" marks and one jeweler's mark for Péry et Fils.
