VAN CLEEF & ARPELS

"Genet" Brooch

Reference : 8342

This brooch appears for the time in the 1969's VCA catalog and specify that the eyes were originally in rubies. Thus, it was a surprise to notice during the Drouot exhebition that this clip had coral eyes !        Whenwe ask the auction house the reason, they confirm that the seller had it with VCA  workshop because he didn't like rubies. This is a good example to undestand how those small editions can be modified by their owners or restored when nescessary. We have see for example a "Messy Lion" by VCA being rhodium-plated on a request, and you can also see on our website réf : 8114  in "Find out more", many variations.
